Munich Airport arrivals at Terminal 1

It can accommodate as many as 25 million passengers each year. Once travelers go through security checks and move past the airport center, they can conveniently reach Terminal 1 by using levels 3, 4, or 5:

  • Access to the upper floor of Airport Munich arrivals or departures and parking can be obtained via Level 3.
  • Except for Module E, Level 4 functions as the level for arrivals and departures. At Module E, arrivals are located on the east side and departures are situated on the west side. Boarding gates G19-G28 are in the center, and gates G9-G18 and H1-H8 are on the left side.
  • At Munich Airport, the arrival lounge area is situated on Level 5, where you can relax before the flight.

Munich Airport arrivals at Terminal 2

The annual passenger capacity of Terminal 2 is 25 million. This area is reserved by all Star Alliance members. The exception is Turkish Airlines. Additionally, Star Alliance partners Air Malta and Luxair also utilize it.

It is divided into three sections:

  1. Level 3 is known as the Munich International Airport arrivals level. At this location, you will find various amenities including baggage claim, information, car rental counters, and customs. Once you leave the terminal, transportation options such as bus and taxi services are easily available for your convenience.
  2. The North Pier is where boarding gates G1-G28 are placed on level 4. On level 5, there are boarding gates H1-H28, and H39-H48, including access to Gates L. There are various options for food and drinks as well.
  3. Between levels 4 and 5, you can locate Gates G29-G48 and H29-H48 at the South Pier.

Covid test at Munich Airport upon arrival

PCR tests are not conducted. But at the Airport MUC, after arrivals, you may select from other various testing options for SARS-CoV-2. They include the following:

  • Antigen rapid test with results available in 30 minutes for €66.86
  • Antibody IgG and IgM rapid test with results in 20 minutes from €60.23
  • Fit to Fly test starting at €67.92

Medical doctors provide medical certificates in German and English.

Baggage claim

To make your travel comfortable, MUC offers various services. You can rent baggage trolleys for a small fee of €1.00. You can find them at the Munich Airport Center, departure areas in Terminals 1 and 2, and underground parking facilities. Upon MUC Airport arrivals, everyone can use the trolleys for free.

If you don't want to transport your luggage, porters are available at all areas in both terminals, for a fee, from 5:00 am to 11:00 pm.

In case you want to shop without carrying your bags, the staff will store them for you with the left luggage service.

Passport control upon arrival at Munich International Airport

Following the arrival of Munich Airport flights, EasyPASS provides a streamlined self-service solution for passport control. By scanning your ePass (electronic passport) and looking at the camera, the process is complete. You can locate EasyPASS control stations in both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.

Before departing, make sure to check the permitted quantities free of charge.

In Terminal 1, there are four security checkpoints available. As for Terminal 2, it has centralized control and 4 pass control points.

Tips for passing security checks at Munich Airport on departures & arrivals

To make the passport control process smoother, use these services:

  • Use alternative control checkpoints. Look for signs indicating it, if you encounter long waiting times at your departure gate. To reach your destination, simply follow the guidance of the airport personnel.
  • To save time during security screening, you can use the automatic boarding card checks available at Terminal 2. By utilizing this service, wait times can be significantly reduced. Passengers have the ability to view real-time displays that show the length of each line, allowing them to choose the shortest option.
  • Be prepared for screening – Pack hand luggage in a way that allows for easy access. Additionally, at security checkpoints, be sure to remove liquids and electronic gadgets and place them in clear plastic bags.

Fun for kids at Munich Airport

At MUC Airport, waiting for flight arrivals or starting the boarding process with children is nice and comfortable. Munich Airport offers play areas for children located in both public and non-public areas. Find them in T1 (Module B, Level 03; Module C, Level 03) and T2 (Gates G, H – Level 04/05; Gates K, L – Level 04/05).

Munich Airport arrival information for people with disabilities

Munich Airport's Mobility Service offers free help for travelers with mobility restrictions. To ensure a smooth travel experience, inform your airline of any necessary assistance at least 48 hours prior to your departure.

Failure to provide sufficient notice may result in delays during boarding and flight arrivals at Munich Airport. Note that for safety reasons, direct registration with the assistance service is not possible.
